Pastor Lynton Taylor and his wife Pastor Rose began their formal ministry assisting at Parramatta Christian Church in 1996 after completing Theological Studies at Southern Cross Bible College (now Alphacrucis College). In 1998 they were commissioned by the Parramatta church to re-launch a recently closed church in the Marsfield/Macquarie Park area naming it Ryde City Church. Whilst at Marsfield Pastor Lynton and Rose believed that God was asking them to 'throw their nets on the other side' which they took to mean to shift their focus and start reaching out towards central Ryde and beyond. In late 2007 Ryde City Church planted an evening extension service on the banks of the Parramatta River at Meadowbank. From this extension service River City Church, Meadowbank was officially launched in October 2008.
